About El Cruce Cancún
El Cruce or Cruce Cancún to Isla Mujeres, is one of the 100 best open water swims in the world and the 100 best island swims in the world.
It's a stunning two-stage race from Cancún to Isla Mujeres in Quintana Roo in southern Mexico. Swimmers can choose between a 3.8km and a 10km ocean course in crystal-clear tropical waters that can occasionally become rough and tidal.
The race traditionally takes place at the end of May and is considered one of the finest ocean competitions and inter-island swimming marathons in the world. It is sometimes called “Complete Crossing 10K Open Water Cancun to Isla Mujeres”.
It is the discipline with the greatest growth from year to year in the swimming field. Competitors aged between 10 and 70 years old (or older) participate in this event, coming from all the Associations, Clubs and independent swimmers of the Mexican Republic and from invited countries such as the United States, Argentina, Spain, Canada, Italy, among the others; to participate in the exclusivity of the place.
