About Club Regatas Lima
The “Lima” Regatta Club was founded on April 26 1875 in the district of Chorrillos, province and department of Lima, Peru. On the initiative of Vicente Oyague y Soyer, together with four friends: Francisco Pérez de Velasco, Domingo García, Francisco Rivera and Enrique Pérez de Velasco. They teamed up to row, a sport Oyague and Soyer had practiced during their student years in England. Initially the Regatas Lima were dedicated exclusively to the practice of this sport; For this reason our shield shows two crossed oars.
In 1876 the first Board of Directors was established composed of: José Vicente Oyague y Soyer (President), Francisco Pérez de Velasco (Vice President), Óscar Elejalde (Secretary), Daniel Vásquez de Velasco (Pro-Secretary), Domingo García (Treasurer) , and the inspectors: A. Lefevre, Napoleón Valdez, O. de Aramburú and JA Barrenechea.
In July of the same year, the first statute of the “Lima” Regatta Club was approved and thanks to the determined work of its managers and members, our Club began an accelerated upward career which, 148 years later, through work; of its 36 elected presidents, has transformed our institution into the most important club in the country from a social, cultural and sporting perspective. We have an infrastructure that, today, allows us to provide care and comfort to our thousands of associates and family members.
Our headquarters is located in the Chorrillos district and we have five branches: La Cantuta (Chosica), La Punta (Callao), San Antonio (Cañete), Villa Deportiva (Conchán) and Paracas (Ica).
